Speed is not important as long as you are moving.  Sunshine is important to lifting mood as well. If you have a hard time getting outside for 15 minutes per day to get natural daylight, then be sure to take at least 3000 units per day of vitamin D. Better still, bask in the sun and take vitamin D as well. Combine vitamin D, sunshine and a walk and see if you don't notice a big improvement in your mood.  Any time you are depressed for more than a week or two, you need to see a doctor right away.
