Acetylcholine as an Important Neurotransmitter

Acetylcholine as an Important Neurotransmitter

This neurotransmitter is affected by Avipaxin and Daxitrol

Acetylcholine (ach) was the first neurotransmitter discovered in 1921. Its basic functions involve the control of skeletal muscles via activation of the motor neurons as well as stimulating the muscles of the body. Acetylcholine is also linked with the regulation of activities in areas of the brain which are in charge with learning, memory, attention, and arousal.

The level of ach in the body is also linked the occurrence of memory diseases such as the Alzheimer’s. A lower level of ach in the body gives a higher tendency of acquiring memory related problems. In addition ach also has the ability to modify the levels of neurotransmitters and enzymes in the body.  It is involved in boosting the production of nitric oxide as well as releasing vasopressin in the body.

Neurotransmitters function differently but supplementary with each other. They are commonly classified into three categories, namely monoamines, amino acids, and peptides. Gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), glutamate, glycine, and aspartate belong to the same group of neurotransmitters which is the amino acids. The monoamine neurotransmitter on the other hand, is composed of melatonin, serotonin, epinephrine, and norepinephrine which functions relatively with each other.

Acetylcholine, GABA, epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin are the most useful neurotransmitters in the body. The levels of these neurotransmitters in the body are crucial when varied. For instance, an optimum level of acetylcholine is needed for a healthy and powerful memory, while a low level can lead to different memory problems. But there are several ways that can be done to reach the required level of these neurotransmitters in the body. One may opt to choose the natural way of eating certain foods that can boost their production in the body, or choose an easier and more effective way of taking supplements that allows proper and healthy level of different neurotransmitters in the body.
