Recent research has suggested that sugar may have more to do with health problems than dietary fats. While the jury is still out on this, it's best to forgo sugars for more complex carbohydrates and whole grains. 3) Do as much cardio exercise as possible. Try to get your heart rate up around three to five times a week at least. Marathon sessions aren't necessary as long as you hit somewhere within the 30 to 60 minute range. 4) If you are under constant stress, find ways to lower the pressure. Stress is one major contributory factor to heart disease and many other health problems. Do whatever it takes - whether lowering your work load, enjoying a hobby or family, or doing relaxation techniques, keep your stress low and let your heart take a break. 5) Learn the warning signs for heart attacks - and if you ever experience them, seek help immediately!
