What is Biotin

Biotin is one of the B vitamins. It is a natural chemical that can be dissolved in water. It is a very important supplement to get either in your diet or from a supplemental pill because it is used in the production of cells. Without cell production, our bodies have no way of maintaining themselves, so a shortage of biotin can be detrimental to your health. It is also used it the metabolism of fatty acids and amino acids. Amino acids are the building products of proteins, meaning that protein production is heavily reliant on biotin. It is relatively rare for somebody to be deficient in biotin, thankfully, since the bacteria inside the average person's intestinal tract produces biotin. Nevertheless, there are several metabolic disorders that make it more difficult for the body to properly use the vitamin. For people with this problem, large doses of biotin can be very helpful for their health. People who have a deficiency of biotin, as mentioned above, are rare. Nevertheless, when it does occur it can lead to hair loss. The outer layer of the eye can swell and become pink. Scaly rashes can begin to develop on the skin. It can also lead to several mental and neurological problems. Some are emotional issues such as depression, but other results can be more horrifying such as hallucinations and numbness. Pregnant women are at the highest risk of having a deficiency of biotin, and it may be necessary to take supplements in order to remedy the issue.
